For my daughter McKenzie on the occasion
of her graduation and leaving home,
The lightness of you being a girl is leaving,
And your thoughts and dreams are taking
You to places you have not known before.
May you find a new lightness in the air
Beyond childhood's innocence as you continue to
Remember the life that is uniquely yours yet shared with all.
Now a women, may you feel the moon
Tug at your blood, as you begin to sense the
Mysteries that lay before you and under your feet.
May you step courageously onto your new path,
Learning to trust the world of feeling you have inherited,
Finding ease and elegance in all you are and will be.
May your respect for your inner and outer beauty;
Become visible in your dignity
And how you hold yourself in the world.
May you be drawn by an irresistible invitation
To discover and develop your many talents;
Each day bringing something new to birth.
May you be wise in choosing love;
When you do find one to trust, give all your heart
And allow love to pervade you like breath.
May you have friends who can see you.
May your senses be windows of wonder
And your mind a prism of spirit.
And no matter how far your journey
takes you, regardless of what challenges you face,
may you always know the way home.
Love Always,
Dad
